  • Some players not in bold would be good fits in Dallas, but we don't see the team being in position to select them.
  • We are very high on Sergio Kindle, Kyle Wilson, Brandon Graham, Dezmon Briscoe, Jahvid Best, Dexter McCluster, Mardy Gilyard, Jordan Shipley, Alex Carrington, D'Anthony Smith, Jason Worilds, and Micah Johnson.
  • We are very low on Sam Bradford, Jimmy Clausen, Taylor Mays, Terrence Cody, and Jermaine Gresham.
Feel free to comment on which players you think we may be over or underestimating.

  1. [...] Defensive tackle Brian Price of UCLA is one of these players that would likely have to transition to defensive end in the Cowboys’ 3-4 scheme. We have him listed as the 28th best overall prospect. [...]

I agree for the most part. The QBs will be the wild card. Teams like St. Louis and Washington could go for a QB. But I look for them to draft otherwise. Also, everybody has DTs 1 and 2. But don’t these teams need LTs? IMO the top 15 or so could be completely crazy. You guys are right on the QBs I think. They are a little lackluster I think. Bradford is easily the best of the bunch to me. I see Clausen as a bust. BTW why is Dan Williams not on your radar? Isn’t he more of a NT? I see us being thin at NT. DE we are OK. Also, Shipleys 40 at the combine drops him a little on my list. I don’t know if he can get away from NFL CBs. Even nickel guys.

  3. Yeah, we are down on basically all of the QBs. One guy we like who isn’t on this list is Jarrett Brown from WVU.

Dan Williams definitely would fit in the Cowboys system, but we just don’t see them taking a NT in the first round. Although they definitely need a better backup, his upside would be limited with Ratliff getting nearly all of the snaps. With Williams a surefire 1st rounder, we just don’t see him being a legit option even though he’s a good fit.

We did this list before the Combine, so some guys will definitely rise/drop. We don’t put too much stock in the times, but Shipley’s definitely is a red flag. We thought he would be a mid-4.4 guy.

    Nice comments.

I think Brown has the best arm of all of the guys I’ve seen throw. Thats including the top two. I see what your saying with Williams, we need a backup. I just hope that everybody doesn’t pass on the QBs. If the QBs go top 15 that should allow a few good OL to fall to us. Corey Peters looks pretty agile to me. He seems to be a good prospect. What about LB prospect Moats? I’d like to see him on the inside. Looks like the Singltary type of build.

  5. Yeah, Bradford and Clausen should definitely go top 15. This draft appears to be set up pretty well for the Cowboys according to their particular needs. I sure hope a top-tier tackle drops to 27 (assuming they don’t move up, which I still see as a big possibility).

Just discovered the site, my typical opinion of football analysts is that they’re by and large bad at their jobs. There’s a few that I like, but most that I see are the TFAG types. However, I like this site. I think you’re too low on Bradford, right on Taylor Mays, and probably too hard on Clausen.

    Like the stuff though.

  7. Hey Omar
Thanks for the feedback. We are definitely very low on the QB’s this year, so we will see how that plays out. If you get a chance, check out our film study section. I think you’ll like a lot of the unique analysis we do in those articles.

  8. [...] was a guy not many people were high on pre-Combine, yet we had him ranked as our #21 overall prospect. We knew he would have a sub-par forty (4.61), but his nine bench press reps call his work ethic [...]

  9. [...] we do not believe Clausen represents great value (we had him as the #37 rated overall player on our initial Big Board), it is tough to pass up what you consider to be a potential franchise quarterback. Pete Carroll [...]
