We have made our feelings on Mays quite clear: one heck of an athlete, but an overrated football player.  You can read our scouting report on Mays right here.

  • Jerry Jones talked about the now infamous “Bill Parcells/Tim Tebow video.”

There really isn’t much left to say about this.  He screwed up–now let’s move on.

This doesn’t surprise us at all.  Free’s athleticism and quick feet could translate well to the left side of the line.  Still, we have some doubts about his overall skill set.

It is a great year to draft a returner.  Dexter McCluster, Jordan Shipley, Javier Arenas, Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, Mardy Gilyard, and others will be on the Cowboys’ radar.

Do you really think Jerry would go with this guy?

Would he move Gerald to FS if he does go in this direction.

Do you think it is possible we address both safety positions early in this years draft?

  2. You are right that Sensabaugh would move to FS if this happens. I have heard from two sources that the Cowboys like Mays’ in-the-box ability. I am not sure that Sensy is the answer at FS though.

I don’t think the Cowboys will draft more than one safety this year, for no reason other than Michael Hamlin. The coaches love this guy and think he can be a difference-maker in the near future. I would rate the 2nd round as the most likely time to grab a safety (Burnett, Allen, Chad Jones, Akwasi Owusu-Ansah). A lot of teams envision AOA as a free safety. If Dallas does too, his return skills might put him quite high on their board.

  3. Craig Kocay says:

Does Akwasi have any fs exp?

I love this “idea”, but (just to play devil’s advocate) is it worth using our second round pick (in a deep draft) on a “project”? Could we not get Javier Arenas later and fill the same return needs?

  4. Good points…Arenas is a guy I really like. AOA does not have FS experience to my knowledge. Mike Mayock said something like a dozen teams had AOA projected as a FS though. You are right that the ‘Boys shouldn’t take a project in the second round. But what if (this is only a slight stretch) AOA drops to the back of the 3rd? I would snatch him up immediately.

You made a funny! Taylor Mays interest grows, JJ apologizes. I agree, he should apologize for interest in Mays. We will know soon.

  6. Haha you picked up on that, good.

  7. Jonny Danger says:

I really really don’t want Mays so many Mocks have him at 27 no way. Jerry wont make that mistake. Any new news on Dallas being interested in DE Ricky Sapp? I really hope we get him but I’m not sure if we should use our 2nd on him unless we trade Spears(even though I really like him) Barbie and possibly Crayton for more picks. Id go all defense if I had it my way I love defense lol, I know we need a tackle but so many great Defensive prospects….

  8. No news on Sapp…I spoke with him and he said he has yet to have contact with Dallas. He really wants to become a Cowboy but it looks unlikely at this point. If he would manage to drop to the 3rd round, I think the Cowboys would take a hard look at him.

Another DE-to-OLB I love is Eric Norwood. I still cannot figure out why this guy is not a first round prospect.

  9. Jonny Danger says:

Thank you I appreciate it. That is unfortunate I would love to see Sapp in a Cowboy Jersey. I’m with you on Norwood I’d be very happy if we land him in the 2nd rd.

  10. No problem. Also…I just read through your entry into our Mock Draft Challenge and I had accepted your first one because I did not see you wanted the second one to be used. Feel free to submit another entry by tomorrow and I will use that one.
