Michael Lombardi recently claimed the Cowboys are worried about the play of right guard Leonard Davis this season (video below).  Lombardi says the team is unsure if his size and lack of ideal athleticism will allow him to effectively get to the second level of the defense.

We can’t say we agree with the assessment.  The 93.0 percent grade we gave him for his 2009 play was the best among all offensive linemen.  We even ranked him as the fifth-best guard in the NFL.

Even if Davis’ play is declining, there are a variety of other positions which should concern the Cowboys more than right guard.

I just watched that on Total access. I really disagree with that, he has always been the solid part of this line in my opinion. Maybe its a way for them to try to get more controversey and ratings by saying Dallas has woes and Davis is not fit at guard.Cant rememeber if he said Davis should play Tackle and remove Free but would not be surprised. Who knows Lombardi is not the sharpest tool in the shed, still he is more along then Woodson. Go Davis lead the way to the Super Bowl Partner.

  2. Yeah I’m not sure where they are getting the idea. I watched the film of the entire season probably 20 times now and can’t see anyone else being considered the team’s best lineman.

3 Pro Bowls in the last 3 years. Enough said.
