There are reports that Redskins defensive tackle/defensive end/asshole Albert Haynesworth might not see the field against Dallas in Week One due to coach Shanahan deactivating him.  Haynesworth hasn’t gotten much practice time in training camp due to injuries and, well, just not coming.  Still, the move would come as a surprise.

Now, some people might not think his absence would be that big of a deal.  He hasn’t even been that good since he landed that huge contract, right?

Not exactly.  Even through the turmoil and chaos in Washington last season, Haynesworth was still pretty good.  Like, top five defensive tackle in the league good.  He may have been pissed about his position or role on the defense, but he still played pretty darn well.  His sacks were down, so people just assumed he played poorly.

Let’s not also forget that the Cowboys’ left guard, Kyle Kosier, is going to be out.  Do we really want Montrae Holland left with the task of blocking this guy?  Kosier has been an under-appreciated cog in the offensive line for a few years.  His absence will make fans realize that.
