I thought it would be cool to put together a DCT Big Board–not just my personal rankings, but the overall rankings of all DCT readers. What I want everyone to do is paste the list of prospects I’ve listed below into the comments, then rate each one from 1-100.  No need to change the rankings to reflect your score for each player.  I will tally the results and, in a couple weeks, post the board and compare it to my own.

Note that you may include any other players you would like.  This is simply my top 50.  Players who are “consensus” top 50 prospects on others’ boards include Christian Ballard, Luke Stocker, Jabaal Sheard, Ryan Kerrigan, Christian Ponder, Danny Watkins, Jonathan Baldwin, Nate Solder, and Leonard Hankerson.  Feel free to include any of those players (or others) into your rankings.

JB—sorry about the last post, but it’s confusing where to post on this site. I originally posted that on March 4 under draft analaysis, and never heard a response,so posted it again before reading your current pages. The Cowboys have started their 30 visits allowed by the NFL, and some names didn’t ring a bell. They must be pretty interested in these guys to make them part of this group. Joe Baldwin (WR) (Pitts), Edmond Gates (WR) (Abilene Christian), Bruce Carter (LB) (N Car), Stevan Ridley (RB) (LSU), Cecil Shorts (WR)(Mount Union),Johnny Patrick (CB) (Louisville),Bilal Powell (RB) (Louisville). Any insight to these guys?

  2. mark–Some of the names you mentioned don’t seem to be legit options to me. Tops on that list is Baldwin, who is set to be a late-first to mid-second round selection. Really no idea why Dallas would bring him in, as I feel comfortable saying there is no way he ends up here. I did a feature on Patrick recently..I really like him.

I KNOW the Cowboys seem to have big interest in Powell. He does makes some sense in the middle rounds, but I would really prefer a small, quick back like Dion Lewis as insurance for Felix.

What Im noticing year in and year out is that people who post usually have never seen most of any of these players play. Ok, maybe for a game , maybe two. Benefit of the doubt, where one of these players are on their favorite college team or maybe they have Direct TV and get all the college games. But lets be real, most of you dont know diddly about these players. C’mon. All you are doing is reading other mocks, other predictions, other sites and basing everything on that. RIDICULOUS…Besides that, you have no idea what teams are really thinking. They are not going to tip there hand. Think Poker dudes. Ok, so you might even be able to guestimate and plug guys in based on need or lack of Free Agency..I can see if maybe you take a few scouts player rankins, but where are those…nope you cant find them cause teams wouldnt allow that. You getting MSNBC or Yahoo sports or ESPN or CBS or This or that football sites ANALysis on players and thats about it. Theyre getting paid to come up with interesting, intruiging plots and sub plots to keep idiots posted to online services and so on.
With that tongue lashing being said, I just hope the Boys pick guys who contribute this year. We cant get past the playoffs into the big game because of two to three things. We cannot get enough pressure on the opposing QB (except for Ware) and we can protect Romo to well (Dont you watch Payton, Eil , Brees, Rivers, Brady and say wow they have a lot of time back there) and finally we lack aggression and nastiness. Its missing…..we are SOFT and dont play like its the last day of the season. Watch teams like Pitt and how aggressive and nasty they are…Baltimore, same thing. If a guy messes up someone gets called on it right there. Green Bays Defense was all over the play flying to the ball…again..aggressive. We play to “clean” to “soft”. We need some angry, mean, guys who take it personally when they’re getting spanked. I hate our teams personality. Im praying that Rob Ryan changes that soft , laid back mentality. Please no more defensive tackles on our own side of the ball…pleasee no more having our linemen stuck in a crouch while the opposing defensive player shoots the gap and penetrates…no more having guys missing assignments (like getting Romo killed and Dez Bryant smashed) by rookies who shouldnt be on the field in the first play, yet alone still on the roster after having his QB knocked out for the season. Dude stayed in the game, suited up for all the rest of the games and is still on the roster. He singled handely killed our season in two playes….Im surprised he didnt find a way to get Ware or Ratliff hurt too…..We need to make personality changes from GM down to the Scrubs on the team…Yeah, you heard it. Spoken like Gospel. Im not lying either and you probably are shaking your head in agreement…I feel your pain….
