Cowboys vs Bucs: 3 Key Matchups
At first glance, the Bucs seem very similar to the Seahawks. Both are physical teams that like to run the football. I think there are a lot of differences between the two teams, however, the most obvious of which is defensive talent. The Bucs’ offensive strategy would suggest they have a great defense, but they don’t. They’re stout on the defensive line, but the linebackers are secondary in particular are well below-average. Thus, I think there are some matchups for the Cowboys to exploit this week.
Interior Line vs Gerald McCoy
McCoy has rushed the passer on 86 occasions thus far in 2012, pressuring him on 10.5 percent of snaps. That’s the third-highest mark in the NFL. Meanwhile, center Ryan Cook and right guard Mackenzy Bernadeau struggled last week in Seattle. Let’s just hope the Bucs place McCoy over left guard Nate Livings the majority of the time. Livings has been perhaps the top player on offense in this short season, allowing just a single pressure and no sacks.
