5 Who Need to Step Up for Dallas
At NBC, I posted a list of five players that really need to step up for the Cowboys. Not surprisingly, they’re all on offense.
1. Tyron Smith
Smith was one of my favorite players in 2011, allowing the third-lowest pressure rate of any right tackle in the NFL. Smith hasfaced two really tough defensive ends in Jason Pierre-Paul and Chris Clemons, but he’s going to face that sort of competition alot in his career. I haven’t tracked him as allowing a sack, but he’s given up five quarterback pressures and has committedmultiple false start penalties. Right now, I have him on pace to allow over twice as much pressure as he did in 2011.
Also, I was on 105.3 The Fan’s “New School with Shan & RJ” show after the Cowboys’ big Week 1 win against the Giants (and prior to Sunday’s loss in Seattle). I tried to embed the interview below, but I’m pretty bad with that kind of stuff (not sure if you could tell by the horrible web designs and difficult-to-use comment system over the years).
Exact words in the interview: “You’d think Dallas should be able to take down the Seahawks on Sunday, and starting 2-0 will be huge.”
