The Cowboys lose 72 percent of their games when they throw the ball at least 57 percent of the time. People see that excessive passing leads to losses and rushing attempts are correlated with winning and assume rushing attempts equate to team success. They don’t. Over at DMN, I broke down the Cowboys’ recent play-calling.

You know how they’ve lost 72 percent of their games when they pass more than 57 percent of the time? Yeah, that dwindles to 36 percent when they throw the ball more than 57 percent of the time through just the first three quarters. Only after Dallas has secured a lead do they run the football with regularity, creating the illusion of balance in the final box score.
