I’m a big fan of Anthony Spencer. I predicted that he’d approach 10 sacks on the season, and I think the nature of his game is one that will always be unappreciated. I’m also a huge Victor Butler fan, however, often ranking him among the team’s top five most efficient players each season. I’m excited that it appears as though he’ll get the majority of the outside linebacker snaps opposite DeMarcus Ware tonight. And I think Butler is going to break out.

Many believe that Butler excels as a pass-rusher because he comes into the game in obvious passing situations, but that actually isn’t true. Over his career, Butler has rushed the passer on 51.5 percent of his snaps—lower than Ware’s rate over that same time. In 2012, Butler has rushed the passer on just 45.7 percent of his snaps. Despite that, I’ve tracked him as recording the highest pressure rate on the team at 12.5 percent.
