Tony Romo’s Most Underrated Trait

At Dallas News, I talked about Tony Romo’s most underrated on-field trait:

In 2012, Romo ranked fourth in the NFL in completion percentage. Completion rate provides a decent representation of a quarterback’s accuracy, but it doesn’t account for passes thrown away, drops, spikes, and so on. Well, “accuracy percentage” at Pro Football Focus does just that. It’s a measure of how often a quarterback threw accurately when he was trying to do so. In that metric, Romo ranked 11that 74.4 percent.

And that number is actually down from the prior two seasons, when Romo’s accuracy percentage was never below 75.1 percent. He ranked third in the NFL both seasons. Over the past four years, Romo’s average accuracy percentage has been 74.7 percent.
