They aim to have all new building projects integrate solar energy in their planning and construction phases to minimize energy consumption. The most famous example of this is Kungsbacka’s new city hall building, which opened in 2019. It features nearly 900 solar panels on its roof, capable of producing a peak output of 270 kilowatt-hours.

The municipality of Kungsbacka aims to use 100% renewable energy by 2025, a goal that they are well on their way to achieving. They are exploring energy storage solutions to ensure a stable and consistent power supply, even in winter months when solar panels are less effective. By doing so, they will be able to rely exclusively on renewable energy generation while still ensuring power availability.
